Join the team of Finding North in this two-day, all-inclusive retreat in Nunnelly, TN just outside of Nashville on September 27th-29th. We’ve rented out a PRIVATE lodge just for the occasion, and will focus on styled photography of all genres, to include:

As part of your package, you will receive:


*Snacks, refreshments, and all meals (Breakfast on Saturday and Sunday, lunch and dinner on Saturday);

*Optional activities like sunrise yoga, a relationship-building campfire, and painting classes;

*Mentoring from at least six industry leaders whose goal is to create a positive, inspirational environment for their colleagues;

*Your choice of small group classes that afford you the opportunity to build you portfolio with a range of genres and subjects. (Selection of small group classes is on a first-come-first-serve basis, and is subject to availability. Registration opens in July.)

*A highly stylized “Wizard of Oz” group shoot sponsored by “Your Fairy Godmother”; 

*Editing demonstrations;

*A discussion of industry standards, professional goals, and being a positive voice in your local photography community.
*Optional add-on day (29th-30th) that includes a second styled shoot, lunch, dinner, and an additional night for $300.

1. Is there a non-compete agreement I will have to sign? 

Absolutely not. We truly believe that, as artists, we all have our unique styles and visions. While we ask that you not take this workshop and then regurgitate everything you learned the next week in your own teachings, we are all about comradery, NOT competition. There’s a place for everyone in this community!

2. How many students can I expect at the retreat? 

Our goal is to have 50 students attend the retreat, with a maximum of 100 attendees. Small group classes can accommodate up to 15 people.

3. Is transportation or lodging provided?

Lodging is provided. However, transportation is not. That said, all events will be held at the property, and Robin and I will set up a FB group where you can arrange shared transportation from the airport.

4. Can I opt to stay off-site for a lower price?

Yes. The cost of a non-lodging ticket is $500.

5. I have a food allergy or restriction. Should I provide my own meal/snacks?

Depending on your restrictions, you may need to. However, you will be asked to inform us of any dietary issues. We will then make catering decisions based on this information.

6. What if I sign up, but then cannot attend the workshop?

Unfortunately, there are no refunds. However, once the workshop is full (at least 50 students attending), you are allowed to sell your seat should the need arise.

7. Is there a contract?

Yes. You will be sent a contract to sign and return. This is to protect both the attendee, as well as the teachers.

8. What if it rains during the shooting portion?

We ask that you let us worry about the weather. We can normally rearrange schedules, or work through light rain if needed. 

9. What is the nearest airport?

We suggest that if you are flying, you choose Nashville as your destination city. It is approximately 45 minutes from the lodge. (A detailed information packet including directions will be sent to participants in July.) 

10. Am I able to make a deposit with recurring payments?

Yes. You can pay a retainer of $249 to hold your spot for a bunk in the bunk room only. However, your total price will be $749 rather than $649, and will require you make a $100 payment on the first of every month . Total payment is due by September 1.

11. Am I able to share the images taken on my website and social media accounts?

Absolutely! However, in order to receive a model release allowing you to share the images you’ve taken, you must return at least 2 images of every model to Stephanie Lemmon within 3 weeks of the workshop. I will then distribute your photos to our hard-working models and you can post away!!!

12. Are we allowed to submit our photos from the workshop to contests or publications?

Unfortunately not. We ask that you limit the use of your photos to your own website or social media accounts only.

13. Why is the price so low?

The price is not a reflection of the quality of teaching, but rather is set to encourage members of the Finding North group to attend this awesome opportunity. Robin and I will NOT get rich from this workshop, and are merely hoping to build commradery between members of the FN community.

14. When is check-in/check-out?
Check-In starts at 4 p.m. on Friday, September 27th. (The workshop begins at 6 p.m.) We ask that you arrive no earlier than 4:00 as we will not be prepared for guests until this time.

The workshop ends on Sunday, September 29th at 1 p.m. If you aren't staying for the additional night, you must check out by 3 p.m. However, if you opt to leave Monday, September 30th, your checkout is at 10 a.m.

15. What is included in the optional add-on day?
Lodging and meals will be provided (lunch and dinner). There will also be additional classes- most likely focusing on senior, pet, and boudoir photography. Though, this is still up in the air. We will also have a second styled group shoot.

Check out is Monday by 10 a.m.

16. Do you need models?

We will need models, but will put out a separate call for models in February once all details have been solidified. Please do not inquire until the announcement is made.
